After the worst floods in its almost 200 year history, the Broke Fordwich wine region has reopened.
Local wineries, restaurants and accommodation venues are urging people to visit the region to show support in the coming weeks.
On July 6 the floods devastated the community and township, impacting more than 50 properties. The Broke Disaster Relief team are working in partnership with Resilience NSW to raise much needed funds for flood affected families.
Andrew Margan, of Margan Wines, was impacted by the disaster and is asking people to help in whatever way they can. “The community of Broke, government bodies, and all of the people who have been on the ground helping to try and put our wonderful community back together again can only do so much. We urge people to come and visit the cellar doors and restaurants, buy wines online or in retail outlets. We are also asking for donations via our community Go Fund Me with 100 per cent of funds going directly to those left without homes and insurance policies that don’t cover flood damage.”
If you can’t visit Broke Fordwich, you can assist by donating physical items, funds, time or services through givit.org. Necessity vouchers are also available to be purchased for affected residents.
You can donate funds to the Broke Region Flood Relief Go Fund Me – all proceeds go directly to the Broke Residents Community Association who are working closely with flood affected families.
