The Lindrum story is a fascinating one; few Australians will not have heard of Walter Lindrum, who reigned as World Professional Billiards and Snooker Champion for over 30 years. What few would know is that his great-grandfather, Frederick Wilhelm von Lindrum, was a renowned vigneron in Norwood, SA, and also became Australia's first professional billiards champion, beating the English champion, John Roberts, in 1869. Lindrum has migrated from Langhorne Creek to the Riverina, where 40 local growers supply grapes for the wines. -JAMES HALLIDAY
