Best Shiraz Wines
These are some of the best Australian shiraz wines of right now.
Shiraz (also known as syrah) has a deep importance in Australia. It is the widest planted winegrape in the country, it grows in almost every wine region in Australia, and South Australia's Barossa Valley and Victoria's Nagambie Lakes are home to some of the oldest-producing shiraz vines in the world.
Australian shiraz typically shows characters of fruits like blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and plum, along with spice, pepper, mint and sometimes notes of chocolate, licorice and tobacco.
There's no shortage of great Australian, examples include the iconic Penfolds' Grange, Elderton's Command Barossa Shiraz, Yarra Yering's Underhill Shiraz, Jasper Hill's Georgia's Paddock Shiraz, and the Chockstone Shiraz from ATR Wines (just to name a few).
Below are 40 of the best shiraz wines recently reviewed, and scored 'outstanding' or 'exceptional', by the Halliday Tasting Team.
