The hype surrounding this label is warranted. Jemma and Steve Fielke met whilst studying oenology and viticulture at the University of Adelaide, before pursuing roles as winemaker and viticulturist respectively. Steve completed vintages at Wendouree (see separate entry) and a stint at Tapanappa as assistant winemaker, Jemma has focused her attention on viticulture after time spent in the cellars of Rockford. The duo source fruit from vineyards they manage across the Adelaide Hills, cementing their terroir-driven narrative. They are happy to place bets with the changing climate at the fore, most recently having planted grenache in the Lower Hermitage, which is also home to their winery. For now, their chardonnay is having a firm moment, a confluence of complexity and drinkability, the result in part of their dedication to sustainable viticulture.
