Our Review
A little over 17ha of vines have been established on the undulating, gum tree–studded countryside of Charlie and Julie Downer’s 80yo Erika property, 4km east of Oakbank. The varieties planted are sauvignon blanc, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and chardonnay; a further 8.3ha in Lenswood is planted to chardonnay and pinot noir. Son Michael is winemaker, with a bachelor of oenology degree from the University of Adelaide. -JAMES HALLIDAY
