Uraidla

The Virgara family has been growing wine grapes in the Piccadilly Valley and Balhannah districts of the Adelaide Hills for more than 30 and 20 years respectively. Third-generation Uraidla boy Frank Virgara continues the tradition, following in the footsteps of his father Girolamo and grandfather, local market gardeners, fruit and vegetable retailers and well-known owners and operators of the fruit mart in the nearby Stirling township. Hills-based winemaker Turon White has sourced fruit from the Virgara vineyards and has been engaged as winemaker for the new releases of Momo wines under the Uraidla banner. -TONY LOVE
