Our Review
Winemaker Ricky Evans steers the triptych of wines under the Woodlawn umbrella, which is named after the Evans family farm overlooking the Tamar River. There are the Woodlawn wines themselves, single-vineyard offerings from the Waverley and Three Wishes vineyards near Launceston. The Two Tonne Tasmania range covers riesling and chardonnay from the Tamar Valley (TMV) and pinot noir from the east (EST, from the Freycinet Coast) and south (STH) of the state, namely the Derwent and Coal River valleys. And finally, the Havilah wines lean towards the natty, lo-fi ends of the wine spectrum, celebrating alternative varieties and skin contact, constantly morphing over time as any creative output should. If you’re ever in Launceston, Ricky also has a snazzy little wine bar called Havilah, where you can try the range. -DAVE BROOKES
