A long lunch on a Sunday afternoon that supports a good cause? Say no more.
The chef series Friends of George will return to Hotel Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula on Sunday November 12.
Hosted by Hotel Sorrento’s culinary director and Australian chef George Calombaris, join six of Australia's highly esteemed chefs and renowned potter Sam Gordon for an unforgettable afternoon.
Friends of George will return to Hotel Sorrento for the second time in 2023.
The guest chefs in residence will be Shane Delia of Maha Restaurants, Matt Wilkinson of Montalto, Justine Schofield (host of Everyday Gourmet), chef and cookbook author Paul Wilson, and Daniel Dobra, who is the head chef at Market Bistro. Ceramic designer and potter Sam Gordon will be crafting bespoke ceramics on the day.
While we can't disclose the menu just yet – here's a sneak peek. The starters will be created by Justine Schofield, the second and third courses will be led by Matt Wilkinson and Paul Wilson, the main will be a collaboration between Daniel Dobra and George Calombaris, and Shane Delia will close the event with a sweet, Middle Eastern-inspired dessert.
What about the drinks? There will be a selection of cocktails available, each carefully selected by the chefs to ensure the perfect food and drink experience. Wine and beer will also be available for purchase.

“We're thrilled to welcome six new chefs to the Hotel Sorrento kitchen. The passion and artistry that each chef brings to their cooking is truly inspiring, and we're so excited to share this with our guests. Beyond the incredible flavours, this event also supports Bowel Cancer Australia – a cause that is important to not only me but also to the Pitt family,” says George Calombaris.
Tickets are $169 per person. $10 from every ticket sold will be donated to Bowel Cancer Australia.
Bookings are essential. Please note the previous Friends of George event sold out in just hours. Bookings will open in the first week of October. Visit hotelsorrento.com.au for more information.
