Bellarine Distillery Rosey Rouge Barrel Aged Gin Liqueur

Rosey Rouge is a liqueur based on Bellarine Distillery's Rosey & The Rabbits gin, which is distilled with apricots and black limes then matured in pinot noir barrels. Here, that gin has been blended with 15-year-old Grand Muscat from Victoria to create a unique take on gin liqueur. Rich woody spice and oak dominate the nose, with less fruit than you might expect and a distinctly savoury celery seed note. It’s nice to see that the gin itself is not at all hidden, but it may have lost some brightness in the barrel. Woody spice dominates the palate. It’s a really pleasant drink, with the sugar very well controlled for a liqueur.
