The noble red grape variety, cabernet sauvignon, was one of the first to hit Australian shores in the 1800s, and has since produced highly regarded wines, celebrated for its bold and ageworthy characteristics. Often referred to as the ‘King of Red Wine’, Coonawarra and Margaret River are where the majority of the premier examples are produced, yet this year the Yarra Valley and Barossa Valley make honourable positions.
