Wimbaliri Wines

New South Wales | Canberra District

Our Review

John and Margaret Andersen moved to the Canberra District in 1987, establishing their vineyard at Murrumbateman in '88, bordering Clonakilla. The vineyard is close-planted with chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot (plus a few cabernet franc vines). In 2009 the winery was purchased by Scott and Sarah Gledhill. Scott, born in Wallsend (NSW), is a sixth-generation descendant of German vine dressers who emigrated to the Hunter Valley in the 1850s; Sarah draws upon her science background to assist in the vineyard and winemaking. -JAMES HALLIDAY
