Our Review
Cowra Estate was purchased from the family of founder Tony Gray by South African-born food and beverage entrepreneur John Geber in 1995. A vigourous promotional campaign has gained a higher domestic profile for the once export-oriented brand. John is actively involved in the promotional effort and rightly proud of the wines. The Geber family, incidentally, also owns Chateau Tanunda in the Barossa Valley (see separate entry). -JAMES HALLIDAY
