The Gilbert family history is steeped in South Australian agriculture. Joseph Gilbert was responsible for the movement to viticulture, planting the 1st vines at Pewsey Vale in the Eden Valley in 1847. His great-great-grandson Simon Gilbert is now a 5th-generation winemaker, and it was in 2004 that Gilbert Family Wines began to tell its story. Today, Simon is joined by his son and 6th-generation winemaker Will Gilbert. Crafting wines from Mudgee, Orange and the Eden Valley, with developments also in the Hilltops, the pair produce both traditional and progressive wines with a regional focus. -SHANTEH WALE

The Cellar by Gilbert, a stunning sandstone building located just on the edge of town in Mudgee, is the warm and welcoming cellar door of Gilbert Family Wines.
Guests can experience our award-winning wines made by sixth generation winemakers Simon and Will Gilbert in the elegant and relaxed wine bar atmosphere. Enjoy locally sourced small bites, discover and learn about wine, and spend time with family and friends relaxing under the vine-covered pergola in the courtyard or inside by the fire during winter. Bookings are recommended, especially on weekends, but are not mandatory.
