Giesen Wines

New Zealand | Marlborough

Our Review

What is arguably NZ’s most recognised wine brand was established in ’81 by brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel Giesen, who missed the vinous offerings of their native Germany and decided to take matters into their own hands. Their first vineyard was planted just outside Christchurch, but in ’93 the brothers made the move into Marlborough with the purchase of the Dillon’s Point Vineyard in the Wairau Valley, and in ’00 they built their winery. Today, Giesen owns four Marlborough vineyards and produces an extensive range of wines, from premium single-site bottlings to low- and no-alc, and exports to more than 30 countries. -ANNA WEBSTER
