Flame Hill Vineyard

Tony and Nathalie Thompson have their work cut out for them. Three vineyards, 22 varieties, a cattle farm and some events and accommodation spaces to manage (not without their other two family members, cattle dogs Bill and Mack). To add to the complexities of the project – which had its first commercial vintage in ’12 – the Thompsons don’t stop at 1 block per variety. Rather, they experiment with clonal variations planted to many different blocks across different sites they own in the Granite Belt. Everything is seen as a learning experience, perpetuating the ideal to make the very best wine. All fruit is hand picked and estate owned and the average vine age is 40+ years. Their lagrein, sauvignon blanc and shiraz are of particular note. -HALLIDAY TEAM
