Simon Tolley is a 5th-generation grapegrower who has managed vineyards across SA, from Padthaway and Naracoorte to Clare and McLaren Vale as well as Margaret River in WA. Based in the Adelaide Hills, where he first worked in a technical role, then as a contract services manager and a regional manager, he also creates his own range of regionally suited sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot noir and syrah, concentrating on growing specific clones in his family estate vineyard at Woodside. -TONY LOVE

The cellar door, set in a stylish converted shed with sweeping vineyard views, offers relaxed tastings and local produce pairings, making it a standout destination in the region. Simon’s 2024 Estate Range Sauvignon Blanc has won trophies at the Australian Cool Climate Wine Show and Royal Adelaide Wine Show, earning accolades for its vibrancy and perfume. A recent Adelaide Hills brandy made from smoke-tainted grapes highlights Tolley’s resilience and innovation following the 2019 bushfires.
