Our Review
George Girgolas has been a long-term grapegrower near Virginia in the Adelaide Plains region, with 116ha of 38-year-old vines, the grapes all previously contract-sold to Yalumba (he was Yalumba's Grower of the Year in 2000). Three years ago he and his family acquired the Thornborough property (5km from the vineyard) which includes a 2-storey stone house built in 1827, and straddles the Gawler River. -JAMES HALLIDAY
