Henschke is the foremost medium-sized wine producer in Australia. Stephen and Prue Henschke have taken a crown jewel and polished it to an even greater brilliance. Year on year they have quietly added labels for single vineyards, single varieties or blends. The wines hail from the Eden Valley (the majority), the Barossa Valley or the Adelaide Hills. There’s a compelling logic and focus – no excursions to McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, etc. Recognition as Winery of the Year in the '21 Companion was arguably long overdue. Cellar Door
Information
The Henschke Cellar Door, housed in the property’s original 1950s woolstore, was opened in 2018 to mark the winery’s 150th anniversary. It includes a spacious tasting area, courtyard, underground wine tank and museum, private tasting area and temperature-controlled wine room displaying the full Henschke collection. Guests are invited to choose from a range of wine selections for tasting. Henschke also offers exclusive private experiences where guests can visit the oldest Henschke vineyards, observe the gnarled vines and tour the historic working winery before tasting a range of distinguished Henschke wines. Bookings in advance are essential for the Hill of Grace Experience and Mount Edelstone Experience. Please contact the winery directly for further details and bookings.
