Our Review
Fell Wines is the baby of Tom Hicks, of the eponymous Hicks Wines. The name is inspired by the fells (mountains) of northern England and the shepherds, their sheep and their binds to the land. It is the oft-heard story of the wanderer, eager to explore small-batch vinification under the aegis of wild yeast and gentle extraction techniques. The bright labelling of each cuvée confers a certain insouciance, belying the textural precision, intrigue and prodigious drinkability manifest in each bottle. If you are expecting pulpy hipster juice with little structure, think again! Freshness, fruit and apposite structural latticework are the signatures, as is exceptional value. -NED GOODWIN MW
