Fox Creek Wines

South Australia | McLaren Vale

Our Review

Fox Creek has a winemaking history that dates back to 1984 when Helen and Dr Jim Watts purchased a 32ha property in McLaren Vale. The winery has been upgraded to handle the expanded production of Fox Creek, the increase a function of demand for the full-flavoured, robust red wines that make up the portfolio. Part of the estate vineyard dates back to the early 1900s, providing the Old Vine Shiraz that carries the Fox Creek banner. Exports to all major markets. -JAMES HALLIDAY

It all began when a group of medicos decided to realise a lifelong passion -creating a wine from bare earth and sunshine. The earth was found at McLaren Vale, one of South Australia's premier wine regions, renowned worldwide for its Shiraz and other red wines. The sunshine was free.

Between them and their families Fox Creek Wines was born and they could not have imagined what a success their venture would be!

In 2009 Fox Creek Wines celebrated an Australian first, the launch of their new Braille wine labels, an initiative they undertook with the help of the Royal Society of the Blind.

The first three wines with braille and large print on their back labels were the 2009 Shadow’s run Sauvignon Blanc, 2008 Red Baron Shiraz and Vixen but this has now extended to include every Fox Creek wine.

Braille tasting notes are available at the Cellar Door and large print tasting notes are available for each wine on the website.
