Rosemount Estate

South Australia | McLaren Vale

Our Review

Rosemount Estate has vineyards in McLaren Vale, Fleurieu, Coonawarra and Robe that are the anchor for its top-of-the-range wines. It also has access to other TWE estate-grown grapes, but the major part of its intake for the Diamond Label wines is supplied by contract growers across SA, NSW, Vic and WA. The quality and range of the wines has greatly improved over the past few years as Rosemount Estate endeavours to undo the damage done to the brand around the new millennium. Ironically, the large McLaren Vale winery was closed in November 2014, winemaking transferred to other major wineries owned by TWE. Exports to all major markets. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Since its establishment in 1974, Rosemount Estate has become a world-renowned wine brand and continues to receive outstanding awards and accolades. Freshness, vibrancy and great drinkability are the qualities that Rosemount Estate promises in every bottle. We make wines that are easy-drinking, full of luscious flavours and are ready to enjoy now. These are wines you can look forward to savouring at the end of a busy day.

Led by Chief Winemaker Matt Koch, who has worked with the brand for the past 20 years, our winemaking team has an unpretentious attitude to winemaking and a commitment to quality. This approach underpins all of our Rosemount wines, from our world-renowned Rosemount Estate Diamond Label, to the new MV Collection from McLaren Vale right through to our flagship tiers, including Rosemount Estate Balmoral Syrah and GSM. Today, the Rosemount Estate team is constantly experimenting with new varieties and blends, exploring new vineyards and sub-regions and pushing the boundaries to ensure we continue to make wines that people thoroughly enjoy the world over.

The relaxed spirit of McLaren Vale runs through every Rosemount wine. McLaren Vale has been an essential part of Rosemount since the 1980s, when the team began sourcing fruit from the region. McLaren Vale is an incredibly dynamic wine region – it’s known for its consistency and quality, but there’s also great diversity and a wonderful energy in the region. There’s a distinctive hum to this popular destination as people come down to enjoy the picturesque setting and Mediterranean climate of this relaxing little hamlet and just 45 minutes’ drive from Adelaide, South Australia.

Over the years, quality of Rosemount wines has been recognised across the range with an extraordinary list of awards and accolades. Rosemount Estate was the first Australian winery to ever receive double gold at the London International Wine and Spirits Challenge achieving this in 1983. Rosemount was declared Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine and Spirits Competition London in 1986 and 2000. Rosemount was awarded International Winery of the Year, Wine and Spirits Magazine in 2003 and of course, won the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at the 2002 Melbourne Wine Show.

In recent years, Rosemount is one of the most successful Australian brands on the wine show circuit, with trophies across The Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show, Winestate Wine of the Year, Royal Queensland Wine Show, Decanter World Wine Awards, Winewise Championships and the International Wine Challenge (IWC).
