Our Review
Monique and Steve Lubiana moved from the inland of Australia to the banks of the Derwent River in 1990 to pursue Steve’s dream of making high quality sparkling wine. The sloping site allowed them to build a gravity-fed winery and his whole winemaking approach since that time has been based on attention to detail within a biodynamic environment. The first sparkling wines were made in '93 from the initial plantings of chardonnay and pinot noir. Over the years they have added riesling, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and merlot. The Italian-inspired Osteria restaurant is based on their own biodynamically grown produce, free-range meats are from local farmers and the seafood is wild-caught. In '16 the Lubianas purchased the Panorama Vineyard, first planted in '74, in the Huon Valley. -JAMES HALLIDAY
