GKLR

GKLR is named for its owners, winemaker Gerard Kennedy and partner Lucy Runnalls. Gerard grew up in his parents’ Heathcote-based wine business, Kennedy Vintners (see separate entry), before pursuing a career in geology. The duo make expressive wines from their Colbinabbin site, which includes plantings of nero d’Avola, sangiovese, nebbiolo and fiano. Their take on classic Heathcote shiraz is most notable, and often excellent in its best vintages. An exciting emerging producer to watch. -KATRINA BUTLER
