Bochara Wines

Planted in 1998, the 2.2ha vineyard includes sauvignon blanc (1ha), pinot noir (0.8ha) and gewürztraminer (0.4ha); varieties all well suited to the cold and sometimes temperamental Henty climate. The winery’s tiny scale means that all operations are done by hand, with wines made onsite by owners Martin Slocombe and Kylie McIntyre. The wines are sold from the rustic cottage at the vineyard, and in restaurants and retailers across south western Victoria. The Belle Époque label design is taken from a 1901 poster advertising farming land at Bochara. -JAMES HALLIDAY
