Wood Park

With a background in environmental science, John Stokes planted his first vines at Wood Park in '89 in the back paddocks of his grazing property at Bobinawarrah in the hills of the Lower King Valley, east of Milawa. The surrounding hill country has been excluded from grazing since the time of the first vine plantings. Natural regeneration, additional native plantings and 3 large dams have enhanced biodiversity. The vineyard is managed with minimal chemical use. Wood Park also sources fruit from sites in the King and Alpine Valleys, ranging from 250–800m elevation. The mix of mainstream and alternative varieties includes tempranillo, sangiovese and roussanne. -JENI PORT
