Garagiste

Barnaby Flanders co-founded Allies Wines in ’03, with some of the wines made under the Garagiste label. Allies has now gone its own way and Barnaby has a controlling interest in the Garagiste brand. The focus is on the Mornington Peninsula. The grapes are hand sorted in the vineyard and again in the winery. Chardonnay is whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented with wild yeast in new and used French oak, mlf variably used, 8–9 months on lees. Seldom fined or filtered. -JAMES HALLIDAY
