Our Review
After a lifetime in the retail liquor industry, John and Susan Vale took a busman's retirement by purchasing a grazing property at Balnarring in 1991. After some trial and error the estate plantings are now riesling, gewurztraminer, tempranillo and durif. Daughter Caroline, with a science degree from Melbourne University and a winemaking degree from CSU, took over the winemaking duties in 2010 after a varied international and Australian winemaking career. Sadly Caroline developed leukaemia and passed away in '15. John has resumed winemaking duties and continues her vision. -JAMES HALLIDAY
