Lillydale Estate

Lillydale Estate was established in 1976 by Alex White and Martin Grinbergs, fugitives from Carlton & United Breweries, where they were scientists. They were at the forefront of the development of Yarra Valley chardonnay style in the early '80s, but in '94 the winery, the brand and vineyards were acquired by McWilliam's. In Aug '12, ownership changed once again when a subsidiary of the very large Wuxi Electronics and Instruments Industry Co. Ltd acquired the property. The intention is to slowly build the brand, protecting the reputation it has gained over the years. -JAMES HALLIDAY
