Our Review
After the sale of the brand (but not the real estate) of Diamond Valley, James and wife Claire leased the vineyard from James' parents David and Catherine Lance, including the 0.25ha block of close-planted pinot noir. In all, Punch has 2.25ha of pinot noir (including the close-planted), 0.8ha of chardonnay and 0.4ha of cabernet sauvignon. When the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires destroyed the crop, various grapegrowers called offering assistance, which led to the purchase of the grapes used for that dire year and the beginning of the ‘Friends of Punch’ wines. -JAMES HALLIDAY
