Our Review

Ryan and Narelle Gibbs are the 6th generation of the pioneering Gibbs family. When the family first arrived in 1883, they named the farm Aylesbury, after the town in England whence they came. For generations the family ran cattle on the 200ha property, but in 1998 they decided to plant 4.2ha of cabernet sauvignon to diversify the business. Merlot (2.5ha) followed in '01 and sauvignon blanc (1.6ha) in ’04. In ’08 Ryan and Narelle took over the business selling the grapes until ’15, when they made the first Aylesbury Estate wines. Three years later, they purchased the nearby 52 Stones Vineyard, adding cooler-climate varieties chardonnay, arneis and gamay to the Aylesbury range. -JAMES HALLIDAY
