Henschke
Henschke is located in the beautiful Eden Valley, this cooler, higher altitude area part of the wider Barossa. Housed in the original 1860s Grain Barn at the family property in Keyneton, the structure was built by first-generation winemaker Johann Christian Henschke. The space includes an expansive tasting area, underground cellar and the Henschke Wine Room, which displays the winery’s full collection of ultra-premium, single-vineyard and small-parcel wines. -
St Hugo
The St Hugo experience starts upon entering the driveway, surrounded by one of only a few plantations of cork trees in Australia. Planted more than 50 years ago by Colin Gramp (son of Hugo Gramp, the founder of the winery) they are a fitting welcome to the location. The home of St Hugo is located within the ruins of William Jacob’s winery, constructed more than 150 years ago. The additions to the site have been designed to tie in with the historic ruins. The site is comprised of both the St Hugo Wine Lounge and St Hugo Restaurant. -
Schild Estate
Look beyond the well-trodden trail and big names and head to the southern Barossa for artisan producers and intimate, welcoming cellar doors. Family-led Schild Estate is one winery in this area, offering personalised experiences in their estate tasting room, where you can sample a range of regionally grown varieties guided by staff (including their Moorooroo Shiraz, rated 99 points by James Halliday). Or, for a more laid-back experience, pull up a barrel at Hazel, the retro wine caravan, and enjoy a range of wines while taking in the view of the southern Barossa hills. -
Peter Lehmann
Peter Lehmann established his iconic Tanunda-based winery in 1979 to help ensure the livelihood of Barossa grape growers after a period of hardship in the region. Today, the historic winery and cellar door offer visitors a glimpse into the Barossa’s rich history, as well as the opportunity to enjoy premium wines that speak of their origins. The winery shares the Barossa community’s sense of hospitality, and the cellar door team loves hosting visitors. On colder days, relax by the open fireplace and warm up with a quintessential Barossa shiraz, or when the weather is warm, enjoy the beautiful gardens and creek-side lawn scattered with picnic tables.
